Beyond the Cover:
Belly measures her life in Summers; all school year is just a countdown of days until she can go back to Cousins and all the fun that Summer has to offer. This Summer isn't like the rest though. Her brother Steve has to leave early to go on a college road trip, and then it's just her, Conrad, and Jeremiah. Things start changing at a rapid pace; everything that should have been out in the open air is out. But by the end of the summer, will everything be alright?
The Summer I Turned Pretty is the perfect summer novel. It has a rich back-story that often comes up in the form of "flashbacks". These just helped to further your understanding of the relationship between Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah. The sand, sun, and sea all come together to form a very believable story that had be crying one moment and laughing the next. There are two more books relating to The Summer I Turned Pretty. I will definitely be reading them and anything that Jenny Han decides to write. Her writing style is very readable and as I was reading I found that I wouldn't even realize when I had already read like 40 pages; I would just look down and notice. I would totally suggest it to anybody wanted a good beach read.
