Waiting on Wednesday [2]

"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. You talk about a book that you've really been anticipating. This week, I wanted to spotlight a book that personally, I'm really excited for: All You Desire by Kirsten Miller.

On the Cover:

All You Desire is the follow-up to one of my favorite books of 2010 (The Eternal Ones. You can find my review here) I don't want to give anything away for people who haven't read The Eternal Ones (you should if you have not) but All You Desire is all about Haven and Iain finding Beau; and there will, of course, be more Ouroboros Society drama. If you have read The Eternal Ones and want a full overview, check out this link: All You Desire by Kirsten Miller

Review of You Are Not Here by Samantha Schutz

On the Cover:

Beyond the Cover:
You Are Not Here by Samantha Schutz isn't a light sort of read; it's told in free verse (like an Ellen Hopkins book) and deals with Lee, a girl whose "boyfriend" dies suddenly of a rare heart condition. During the novel, Lee must deal with the grief she has in her heart and realize that her relationship with Brian wasn't as great as she thought it was. It's a very deep read, but by the end, there was hope, which is more than I can say for some "deep" novels in the same format. You Are Not Here is a quick read, and because I love verse novels I will be looking for other novels by Samantha.

Book Haul!

Two days ago I went to the library and I picked up a book at the big "W".
These are the books:
1.You Are Not Here by Samantha Schutz
2. It's Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han
3. Across the Universe by Beth Revis
4. Unwind by Neal Shusterman
5. Early to Death, Early to Rise by Kim Harrison
I'm so excited about all of these books! I'm currently on page 212 of You Are Not Here. It's been great so far, but it's kind of depressing. Expect a review up soon!

Review of The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

On the Cover:

Beyond the Cover:
Belly measures her life in Summers; all school year is just a countdown of days until she can go back to Cousins and all the fun that Summer has to offer. This Summer isn't like the rest though. Her brother Steve has to leave early to go on a college road trip, and then it's just her, Conrad, and Jeremiah. Things start changing at a rapid pace; everything that should have been out in the open air is out. But by the end of the summer, will everything be alright?
The Summer I Turned Pretty is the perfect summer novel. It has a rich back-story that often comes up in the form of "flashbacks". These just helped to further your understanding of the relationship between Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah. The sand, sun, and sea all come together to form a very believable story that had be crying one moment and laughing the next. There are two more books relating to The Summer I Turned Pretty. I will definitely be reading them and anything that Jenny Han decides to write. Her writing style is very readable and as I was reading I found that I wouldn't even realize when I had already read like 40 pages; I would just look down and notice. I would totally suggest it to anybody wanted a good beach read.

Waiting on Wednesday

Since reading Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater, I've been sucked into the world of "The Wolves of Mercy Falls". Linger, the 2nd book in the series more than met my expectations. The books alternate between points of view; this made them amazingly fast reads. You get to see into the mind of all the main characters.
So this week's "Waiting on Wednesday" pick is Forever by Maggie Stiefvater (Book Three in "The Wolves of Mercy Falls" series.
It comes out July 12th, and I'm definitely going to pick up a copy!

Review of Matched by Ally Condie

For my first review, I'm going to talk about Matched by Ally Condie.

On the Cover:

Beyond the Cover:
Matched is a suspenseful novel; in Matched, the future has gone wrong. The "Society" has taken over and everything is controlled. In fact, things are so under control that when the book begins, Cassia, the heroine, thinks all is going well in her life. She is about to be Matched. The Society has picked her perfect mate. She is happy to find that her Match is her best friend. But when she finds out that there might be a mistake with her Match, she finds the the Society may not be as perfect as she thought.
As I began reading this novel, I was completely sucked in. The writing by Ally Condie flows well, and it's paced perfeectly. The Society seems so real that it's easy to believe. Every rule is covered. The lives of the citizens are planned from birth to death. As I got further and further in the book, I became attached to the characters. It's one of the best books that I've read in a long time.

Review of The Eternal Ones by Kirsten Miller

On the Cover:

Beyond the Cover:
The eternal ones is all romance, intrigue, and mystery wrapped together to form one heck of a novel.
Haven Moore lives in small-town Tennessee. But she is no ordinary girl. For as long as she can remember, she has had vision of herself in another time; a time when she was known as Constance . But in the end, Constance's young life and love story was ended in a fiery sob-story.
When Haven sees Iain Morrow on her TV screen, she faints; she knows he's her love lost. She travels to New York, where she finds more than she was bargaining for.
The eternal ones was a smart thrill ride. Though it did have a slow spot or two, most of the time, it seemed like I was finding out things at about the same time the spunky heroine was. The Eternal Ones is the first in what will probably be an amazing series of books. All I Desire (Book 2) is set to be released in November. I can't wait to read it! The end of the Eternal Ones, not to be a spoiler, definitely leaves you hanging. Kirsten Miller is now on my authors to watch list now!
