Gated by Amy Christine Parker Chapter Sample!

Hey guys! Just thought I would share this chapter sample because I'm excited to get to reading this book. :) Follow the link and totally check it out if you can. :)

"Do the gates keep the unchosen out or the chosen in?

In Mandrodage Meadows, life seems perfect. The members of this isolated suburban community have thrived under Pioneer, the charismatic leader who saved them from their sad, damaged lives. Lyla Hamilton and her parents are original members of the flock. They moved here following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, looking to escape the evil in the world. Now seventeen, Lyla knows certain facts are not to be questioned:

Pioneer is her leader.

Will is her Intended.

The end of the world is near.

Like Noah before him, Pioneer has been told of the imminent destruction of humanity. He says his chosen must arm themselves to fight off the unchosen people, who will surely seek refuge in the compound's underground fortress--the Silo.

Lyla loves her family and friends, but given the choice, she prefers painting to target practice. And lately she'd rather think about a certain boy outside the compound than plan for married life in the Silo with Will. But with the end of days drawing near, she will have to pick up a gun, take a side, and let everyone know where she stands"

I've been feeling really depressed because I haven't been active on this blog for a year now. But finally I have a computer I can use to update things. I just couldn't bring myself to use my kindle to post, because the whole experience was just terrible. I just got a samsung chromebook today and I'm happy to say updates to the blog should be happening soon. :)

Summary:

"Red-hot author Miranda Kenneally hits one out of the park in this return to Catching Jordan's Hundred Oaks High.

Parker Shelton pretty much has the perfect life. She’s on her way to becoming valedictorian at Hundred Oaks High, she’s made the all-star softball team, and she has plenty of friends. Then her mother’s scandal rocks their small town and suddenly no one will talk to her.

Now Parker wants a new life.

So she quits softball. Drops twenty pounds. And she figures why kiss one guy when she can kiss three? Or four. Why limit herself to high school boys when the majorly cute new baseball coach seems especially flirty?

But how far is too far before she loses herself completely"
I was browsing the teen books on my kindle and looking for a book that I wasn't going to break my bank on. As a rule, I try to look for books that are five dollars or under when I decide to go the ebook route. I just can't bring myself to spend more on something that is only a couple bits of memory. I saw this and it looked cute. With a 1.99 price tag, I was sold .

This book was everything I wanted it to. It was romantic, it showed growth in a character, and the writing wasn't boring. If a book can meet those standards, I'm a happy camper.

The story line is great, because just as it starts to slow down, you're given another situation to ponder. I've read a lot of books like this one, and it was really predictable, but in a heart-warming way. A way that didn't have me pounding my head against a wall, an urge that I've had with other books that were sort of like this. I'm only sort of kidding.

The reason I liked it was because of the main character. She actually seemed to think in a logical way before she did things, so I had less of a hankering to punch her for acting stupidly. Throughout the story, she questions her religious roots, but still upholds the moral standards that she knows are right, and I respect her for it. Unlike other stories that unrealistically show the good girl immediately jumping headfirst into romance and sex, they actually show Parker's indecision and thought process.

The guys are hunky too. ;)

Definitely check this one out if you can.
